40 Years of Saving Lives

Recently, Caring Network’s President Emerita, Barbara Singer, was featured in an article by Pregnancy Help News. She shared our history of answering God’s call to save the unborn by providing unplanned pregnancy services.

From beginning as a hotline answered by volunteers in a repairman’s garage, to operating six pregnancy resource centers, and now casting a vision to launch 25 new centers by 2025. God has equipped us uniquely. Caring Network has been used tremendously over the past 40 years to impact and save lives.

Caring Network is a group of pro-life pregnancy centers located in the Chicagoland area. Since 1981, we have been offering compassionate, nonjudgmental services for women facing an unplanned pregnancy. Through free services and support, we come alongside women and their partners in a time of need. Caring Network impacts and saves lives through the work at our six centers. Join with our vision in reaching more women and saving more lives today.

40 Years of Lives Saved – A History

“What began as one center in 1981 expanded to two in 2000, three the following year, and four more during the past ten years. Number six opened just last year. That growth has helped alleviate a large obstacle.”

Caring Network’s “large obstacle” has been providing an alternative to abortion facilities in the DuPage County area and beyond. Approximately 1,500 abortions take place in DuPage County annually. These numbers increase dramatically in Cook County, our near east neighbor. This county where Chicago is located performed an astronomical 23,000 abortions in 2018 .

By opening six centers spread throughout DuPage County, Caring Network services are accessible for anyone in DuPage, as well as parts of Cook, Kane, Will, and Kendall counties. As a result, alternatives to abortion are more available now than ever.

40 Years and Beyond – Our Vision

Our work is not finished yet. Abortion numbers are rising as statewide access to abortion increases. Statewide legislation was passed in 2019, helping to build the reputation of Illinois as an “abortion oasis” for those in surrounding states. As a result, the work of Caring Network must increase.

In order to make abortion alternatives even more accessible, Caring Network put forth a bold vision to add 25 new centers by 2025. Through building partnerships, awareness, and community connections, we can further make an impact in areas most affected by high abortion rates. By bringing free services to women facing unplanned pregnancies, and offering our message of hope, we can make an even greater difference.

Would you like to hear more about Caring Network’s 40 years of saving lives? We can’t do this important work without you. Through the partnership of local churches, families, and businesses, we have been able to pursue our vision all these years. God has provided us with the tools and support needed to reach more women and save more lives. His work is not complete. Join us today through prayerpartnership, or volunteering . We look forward to partnering with you in this life-saving vision!
