When does motherhood begin?

WHEN DOES MOTHERHOOD BEGIN?

Lifting women from shame to a place of honor.

The debate over when life begins has continued for decades. We know — without a doubt — that a baby’s life begins at conception. However, recognizing the moment when motherhood begins is something altogether different.

Marissa* grew up indoctrinated by the rhetoric that abortion is a right, that abortion should be normalized, and that women should “shout your abortion,” to camouflage the pain and shame.

SHE THOUGHT SHE HAD THE ANSWER

Then the day came when Marissa was facing her own unexpected pregnancy. Pressured by her boyfriend and overwhelmed by her responsibilities, she tried to convince herself that abortion was the simple, acceptable solution.

All the voices in Marissa’s life loudly agreed that abortion was the answer. But in her heart, Marissa was conflicted. She longed for peace and clarity.

MARISSA CAME TO THE RIGHT PLACE FIRST

Looking for options online, she found the number for Caring Network and scheduled an appointment.

Marissa met with Mary*, one of our pregnancy counselors, who put her at ease right away. Mary listened as Marissa shared all of her concerns. Then she told Marissa about God’s love for her, His promises, and His care for both her and her baby. Mary’s words of truth began to drown out the other voices, piercing through the confusion in Marissa’s mind and giving her a new perspective.

ULTRASOUND REVEALS TRUTH

Afterward, Marissa eagerly agreed to have an ultrasound to see how far along she was in her pregnancy. She could hear the gentle rhythm of her baby’s heartbeat as she watched the screen. What happened next changed everything . . .

As her baby’s movements came into view and captured her attention, reality sank in for the first time: Marissa was already a mother.

Suddenly, abortion no longer seemed possible. In that moment, Marissa’s fear was replaced with hope. She experienced a complete change of heart and chose life for her child.

EQUIPPED FOR THE FUTURE

Later that day, when Marissa shared her decision with her boyfriend, his heart also softened and he became supportive. Together, they realized that God would carry them through this season and beyond.

For Marissa, what began as pressure, fear, and shame was transformed into gratitude, joy and honor.

GLORY TO GOD

Weeks later, when Marissa came back to our clinic for an additional ultrasound, she told Mary that she now knows God used her first appointment to glorify Himself and rescue both her and her child. Praise God.

You make opportunities like this possible for abortion-minded women! Together we can work to save two lives at a time, introduce more women in crisis to the love of God, and take ground from the abortion industry.
